I have worked at a good few places and have had the pleasure of working with some great leaders. I have also had the experiences of working with bosses.

You may notice I have created two groups: Leaders and Bosses.
Now I define these two seperately:

Boss Leader
Drives employees ...Coaches them
Depends on Authority ...On goodwill
Inspires fear ...Generates enthusiasm
Says, "I" ...Says, "We"
Places blame for the breakdown ...Fixes the breakdown
Knows how it is done ...Shows hot it is done
Uses people ...Develops people
Takes credit ...Gives credit
Commands ...Asks
Says, "Go" ...Says, "Let's go"

So it's interesting to see the different methodologies of the boss and leader stereotypes. If you are a boss and don't treat your staff well then I would not be surprised if you have a high turnover of staff.

Analogy

I was told an interesting analogy of boss' that treat their staff badly:

The farmer and his horses. If he works his horses constantly, working them hard at an impossible pace. The horses will die. If the farmer looks after his horses, treats them well. They will not only last longer, but work for the farmer and you will most certainly get better results.

Well I wanted to show the table above and if you ever come across this, you may find it interesting.

Thanks for reading!
